How To Get Credit Help
Author: Admin Total views: 54 Word Count: 359
Is your credit a mess? If so, there is one thing you need to determine before you seek help. What caused your credit to get that way? Was it a circumstance that was beyond your control, such as a divorce, loss of job, or medical problems? Or was it due to something much simpler, like a lack of control in your spending habits or irresponsibility in paying your bills on time?
Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not scolding you. At one time or another we've all been foolish with our money. The point is, we need to learn from our past mistakes to brighten our financial future.
If you have determined that a lack of control or irresponsibility are to blame for your bad credit, you may be able to turn it around on your own. On the other hand, if your credit situation seems beyond your ability to fix on your own, you may want to seek help.
There are many agencies today that provide options for improving your credit and peace of mind, such as: debt consolidation, debt elimination or reduction, credit counseling, and bankruptcy. But which agency do you choose? Aren't they all the same anyway?
Here are five simple questions you should ask while doing your research:
1. Is the agency accredited? Meaning, do they conform to industry standards?
2. Are there any complaints registered against the agency you are considering?
To determine this, you should check with the Better Business Bureau and your State Attorney General's office. Both available online.
3. What are the agency's fees?
4. How are the agency's counselors or employees paid?
If they are paid on a commission basis you may want to consider looking elsewhere. The advice they give may be more beneficial to them than to you.
5. Will your creditor's even work with the agency you are considering?
To determine this you need to ask your creditor's, not the agency in question.
Remember, if your credit is a mess it is your responsibility to fix it. Take action today to change your financial future, and to gain the peace of mind that you deserve!
